Try playing a file in Windows Media Player to see if audio playback is working correctly on your system.
Make sure the volume is not muted. Use the Windows Volume Control accessory or double-click on the speaker icon in the Windows Start bar
tray and make sure the Master and Wave controls are not muted and the
volume is not zero.
Make sure the correct playback device is selected in GoldWave. Press F11 and choose the Device tab. If more than one device is installed, the one connected to your speakers/headhones must be selected.
Make sure the Volume fader in GoldWave's Control window is not zero. Use Tools | Control to display the Control window if it is not visible.
Make sure the correct output mode is selected. Some cards have separate analog and digital outputs. Check the documentation for the sound card
for more information.
