LAME MP3 link From the Free-Codecs.com website. Despite its name, LAME is perhaps the best free MP3 encoder available. Download and open the zip file to extract the lame_enc.dll file (PKZIP or WinZip may be needed to extract the file if you are not using Windows ME or XP/Vista). Copy the lame_enc.dll file into the folder where GoldWave is installed (usually C:\Program Files\GoldWave) or copy it into the C:\Windows\System (or equivalent) folder.

2002-09-03 		170k zip This download adds Ogg Vorbis 1.0 support to GoldWave. Vorbis is a patent-free audio encoding standard. It compresses audio just as much as MP3, often with better quality. To install, unzip the calogg00.zip file into the C:\Windows\System (or C:\WinNT\System32 or equivalent) folder.
BladeEnc DLL 83k zip BladeEnc is an alternative to LAME, but only supports the higher sampling rates (32000Hz to 48000Hz). Unzip the BEnc-094-Win-i586-dll.zip file in the C:\Windows\System (or C:\WinNT\System32 or equivalent) folder.
Media Player Website link Media Player installs all the decoders needed to open MP3 files and to access audio within video files. GoldWave will display a message if you need to install Media Player.

Known Issues and Solutions

Although every effort has been made to ensure GoldWave runs properly, some combinations of sound/video drivers and hardware are unstable. Make sure all the latest Windows Updates are installed on your system.
  1. On some systems, using different read techniques in the CD audio extraction tool may freeze the system. In most cases only the MMC technique should be used.
  2. LAME_ENC.DLL version 3.88 creates bad mono MP3 files. Use v3.92 or later (link above).
  3. Dragging a window over the real time graphs will leave pixel debris.
